  • Interesting links

I am happy to receive questions and suggestions.

Dates und Links

Topics for vouchers, Bachelor's and Master's theses, subject group projects

LB-FVK 1 - Glass fibres for use in fibre composite components: 1 working group of 3 - 5 students each.
Research worldwide available continuous fibres based on different types of glass fibres, independent of the industry.

The number of suppliers of optical fibres has increased considerably in recent years. For the user, it is almost impossible to distinguish between the qualities of the different fibres. Therefore, a comparison is very helpful.

Focal points:

  1. Glass fibre manufacturers, production volume

  2. respective fibre types

  3. Comparison of mechanical properties

  4. Application examples

LB-FVK 2 - Carbon fibres for use in fibre composite components: 1 working group of 3 - 5 students each

Research worldwide available continuous fibres based on different types of carbon fibres, independent of the industry.

LB-FVK 3 - Development of an exhibition table made of visible carbon: 2 - 3 working groups of 3 - 5 students each

A practical and visually appealing table made of exposed carbon is to be developed for the design of trade fair stands.

Main focus:

  • Development of design drafts:

  • small pack size

  • high stability

  • visually appealing - eye-catcher

Constructive design of the preferred variant

  • Material selection

  • Detailed design

  • Technology proposal

Preparation of a cost proposal

Joint presentation of the design drafts of all groups and discussion.

LB-FVK 4 / LB-FVK Tutorials - Calculation Methods of Fibre Composite Plastics: 2 - 3 working groups of 3 - 5 students each.

Content:

In order to update the script "Calculation of FVK", a research of the relevant calculation and failure hypotheses is to be carried out and transferred into a lecture script.

  1. General procedure for the calculation of fibre composite structures, e.g. VDI

  2. Presentation of the reduction and safety concept in dependence of branches, e.g. BÜV, EuroCode

  3. Comparison of relevant failure hypotheses, e.g. Puck, Cuntze, Tsai-Wu.

Working group 1:

Fibre composite components in construction

Working group 2:

Fibre composite components in wind energy and for maritime applications

Working group 3:

Fibre composite components in mechanical engineering
